Reading... writing & mud pies...

Ben Behunin a good friend of mine makes mud-pies and writes books among other things going on in his creative life...

Me i  read each day... and now try to regroup my creative life since retirement is upon me...
it's like trying to find a new new "job" after working for the last fifty years...

Reading is how i feed myself each and every day... scriptures first think every morning...
news, good & bad, then books, i have a list of six at this time, and at the rate i read that could be for the next year... and at present as i said i am trying to get the creative juices running first then flowing, again. i have always put my creative energy into my work, ya i got caught in the i got to have $$$ trap, and i did not have much faith and hope in the full time creative avenue thing...
Then Ben comes along with in my case a book on what to do with the rest of my life...
this type of read for me it's best to know who's writing, ya know background and stuff... Ben i know personally so he is that person for me, he makes me think and ponder about things and become opinionated if you will for or against what he has to say balanced against what i read each day and what i know to be truth.

What February already...

TV from the sky... along with lots of other stuff
big learning curve...
cold winter so far with no snow...
lots of brown grass about the yard...
new visuals and sounds for the new year...
retirement will not be realized till spring...
only this year not returning to "work"...

the state of Utah wants all the federal controlled land

i can't imagine how they can control it any better...
especially with the folks we elected to run the state...

CHEERS to the Day 01/15/2018

Time, year, month, day, hour, the captured moment...
sit down to catch my breath after walking out of the medical clinic...
look around and find this "painting" at my feet...
many surprising details as i study the make-up of it...
someone else's work, but what a composition the camera made of it.



Cutting cardboard patterns of windows this morning to use in/on/with future collages...
Mr. King Jr. day, the usual office's closed for the day...
how many people really know why they might have the day OFF...

TV on for no one, not even the dog to watch... sound effects...
clipping finger nails that i never use to have...
dentures fit well but makes it harder to bite my nails short...

Pellet stove keeping the house at the right temp for a warm winter day...
one hour cinnamon rolls being constructed in the kitchen... smell...
trying to get some collage work going... sifting through ideas, big and small.

Christmas through New Year's collage complete...
have to put together some blanks to collage & draw on
eating cookies for lunch... feeding the dog as well...

waiting for final Retirement $$$$$....
waiting for call to pick-up new car...
waiting for the snow to fall, late this year...

some days are more exciting then others...
usually a nap about this time of day...
retirement takes patience...

everyday is a holiday, except Sunday...
that is still the Lords Day.

a few new years thoughts 2018...

NEW YEARS DAY 2018...
one drive about town this morning...
everything is as it was the day before...
even thought i went to bed before the witching hour of midnight...
the change in the new year is more with me personally...
no "job" now retired and looking to that change...
trying to deal with that issue for the first time in my life...
it sure is different then quitting a job...
it's a different way of seeing and interacting with the world about me...
many things to do, but with a different mind set...
and of course still things "expected" of me to do, personally, and from 
those around me... do i stay with old habits or create new...
still working with the retirement process to fall into place...
that process does not work at my speed or way of getting things done...
must take a hint from the dogs life... patience and a nap... and keep
my finger on the heart beat of whats coming and going each day...
stay close to the truth of life, read scriptures each morning to set the tone
for the day and then work from there...
seek for help, ideas, inspiration from our higher source each day...
keep my daily journal and sketch books current each day and look for 
new daily patterns to work on some art...
brown winter grass outside, new roof half on, holiday lights to get down...
new tv to mount on the wall, old furniture to pass on, and new to come
into the house, waiting for a car to cross the pond, short cut across 
the panama ditch and land in california and come to utah...
other then these few things to wait and act on, nothing to do...
again as i have noticed before change is the constant in life...
learn from yesterday live today and hope for tomorrow...

A week back at work, some things are on the way out, not without some work effort, opening up some more space and ease congestion for who i am not sure...
after fifteen years of this the pattern is on the wall even as i paint over it, the bike donation wheel is gone and the Beaver display is a coming... open space for the greater numbers of visitors we have been seeing...
couple of hick-ups we don't usually experience
broken pipes in the rest room and valves not closed, thank goodness we are not in a boat or we would have sunk! calmness and a few well chosen "words" and all is well... not being so set in ones ways and willingness ti learn is a blessing i am sure, but there was some huffing and puffing work going on...

Weather huff,rain and puff,wind today, 4/8/217

This is one thing we are not short of here in southern Utah... weather, always something going on around us. this going back to work always requires a change of mind set, direction, and new/different routine...
the dog wants a sit down and i will be needing a nap...
Still torn between the winter aRt work and the going back to visitor work, ArT ideas & insights still flowing freely, more collages, assemblages, new "fish tins" are taking over, as the collection process takes hold and parts start showing up, sketch book pages getting filled, along with images being made...
#15then i go back and see previous work done and that adds a new bent to whats going on now...

the dog is banging on my leg
its time of a sit down and an i nap
no batteries hear aids out, batts dead...
the wind is still moving around out of doors...
the apple juice was good...
"choose the harder right, rather then the easier wrong"...
fills up the eyes & overflows the soul...
history is about telling stories...
lean not to our own understanding...
we must wrestle with the work...
let not our knowledge and truth stifle our search for more truth...
