My life down through THE funnel...

While out shoveling the snow off the driveway this morning, again, after yesterdays day-long light falling of snow, the physical work has again allowed my fertile mind to roam free over the events of the past couple of days... I was a few days ago informed via and email/website that one of my first Art teachers John Corbeil, at LA Pierce Collage, had just passed away at 90... my search started to contact the sender, a good old friend/roommate of mine from  collage days that i chat with by phone each year or so, but does not answer emails very often, and also to contact the Family with my regards and condolences...  there is a forty plus year gap here that i am trying to bridge between the Corbeil Family and myself...
Life's journey sometimes seems like we are dropped into the large end of a funnel as we start are way through life and as we meet and come across lots of people along the way... Then we hear of an "event" like this one and we/we move into the narrowing neck of the funnel.
I contacted the Corbeil Family after a good deal of searching, i was able to talk with Pat, John's wife, and Robin a daughter, what a great call that was... Pat told me of a connection they had to me through her so Ryn... so i was off again, this time with numbers...
To make this long story longer you must know that this was not just a teacher student friendship from school, and it was surely was that, but i spent an entire summer with John and his Family at their cabin on the lake in McCall Idaho building an addition to their family get-way, and you can only imagine the outcome of two Artists trying to build something/anything together. A lot of these memories, well most are now flooding back now as i pass down through the narrow end of my funnel, and we now reconnect again, and i continue to shovel snow.
Oh yes... back to the Ryn connection, which got cut off this morning because the long distance lines went "down"between here and California, but we resumed after i contacted my son Levi, who works for the local phone company and is my go to problem solver or answer getter guy when i have phone issues, and that conversation is another story for another day. Seems that Ryn meet the lady that my old collage friend is married to now, she started and was raised in New York, and Ryn lived in the east for awhile... there is actually more to it then this, but another story for another day... so are you getting the connections here yet???
And this all started for me with the email, research and a few phone calls, along with me shoveling snow in Panguitch Utah... what does it all have to do with being prepared??... as we all move closer to the narrow end of the funnel of our life be ready for the life you had before this one you are now living . Do the best you can to teach and raise your children and grandchildren to live a life that is honorable and an example to those around them. The John Corbeil Family did that by their example for me that summer those forty years back...
Thank You John & Pat. Thanks to all of you that made this all possible for me.
So much for now from the RAM memory of an Artist and Observer of every-daylife.
I'm sure there will be more to come so come back and visit... i got a bit more good sunlight and snow to get of the driveway, then i can get back to my incognito-ism here in Southern Utah...   Cheers!

Welcome to my world...

This is all new to me... and being the last bird on the wire and an old one at that, what i have to share will mostly be current to me but not fresh from the first bird up the wire. But i try to get my information from the "horse's mouth" before i pass it along, so get the story right if you know otherwise/different, so we don't make a bigger snowball that has to melt and that takes along time here cause we got more "winter " here then summer, let me know. The snow has been flying all morning, new and wet about 3"at the most, here's to hoping that we get more above us then we are getting here so we can catch and use the runoff as it comes down this spring. Removing the snow from the driveway always gives me a different outlook/view of the day... the sun is out just enough to clear what i can't/don't get off with my shovel.
My intent with this blog is to offer my insights/views of living, working and preparing for whatever comes our way in this high mountain valley, at 6,600' give or take a 100', on the western edge of the Colorado Plateau in Southern Utah.
