the clouds are back...

Hay down clouds up...                                                                                                                                                         9/21/2013
After a week of clear blue sunny skies... there back... love it
watching the desert dry out faster then it took to get wet...
can't fix the washed out roads as fast as it took to wash them away...

The great dryer is here also... wind... fast moving clouds all day long...
dog out... harvest beans... turning off cold tomorrow...
garden, grass, tree eater... neighbor goat in our yard... escorted off...

Brides bandages come off repaired knee... iceman... walking without crutches...
all work done through three small holes... can now shower without a bag...
32mph and that's just the wind...clearing my desk... post office with deeks...

Table with marble top down stairs... it will rise again... out of everyday sight...
nap on the couch listening to a motorcycle rebuild... third day RS food...
thank you... says a lot about who you are... sunset red-pink on gray clouds...

Fragmented sentences are like... photo snap shots...
all the result of my random access mind/memory...
using various triggers... words, images, thoughts etc...

"in essentials, unity...
in non-essentials, liberty...
in both, charity."

Here is a piece of music i came across a week or so back... click the link and enjoy...

on my mark... get set... busy on.

Monsoon on to September...                                                                                                                                                 9/6/2013

It's been a wet season... wetter then i have seen in these parts, and looking at the weather maps there is lots more out there, the Pacific Ocean, streaming our way... so keep it a coming... we always need some good wet weather. These greyongray days are cool and we really have some humidity this year. The skies are not the blue canvas  they have been in years past, the cloud shows have been wonder-filled and always changing all day long. The Visitor Center has had a dip in visitors the past two weeks but i believe that most of the kids have returned to school so the grandparents are heading for home and shopping for the big red & green holiday at the end of the year... so the numbers are starting to pick back up. The year end volunteer lunch and dinner thank you's are here this week and we are starting to scramble for help to keep the center open... we shut the doors on Monday October 28th this season, then shut-up for five months... ahh no talking!!
But we got to get through September first, the busiest month of the season!! The best time of year to be in southern Utah... Sept-Oct, yes a little wetter this year but good hiking weather none the less... cool mornings warm mid-day cool evenings and it will be greener and the rabbitbrush is just now coming on to blooming, the edges of the roadways are yellow.

Will try to get back as soon as time allows... maybe some short blasts with more images then wordstheniwillrunallthewordstogethertosavespaceanditwilltakeyoulongertoreadanicangolongerwithoutwriting. wow!! that mightbe afunidea ya know?!

Well here's to the "boys of ^%" if ya checked in welcome... to my world... maybe see ya in '14. Hwy.12 in southern Utah is the #2 best scenic drive in the world!!! come drive this one first and see if ya want to spend those big bucks to drive #1 in New Zealand?? i think not. Stop listening to pres. O man's hyperbole and the beating of his "dead horse" war drum... according to my numbers and talking to the Americans traveling they are sick of listening and are out seeing this great country!! (Sojourns 8:2 summer + fall 2013 is out... come have your eyes opened by the awesome spectacle of the national parks on the Colorado Plateau... and if you don't have your "old farts pass", excuse me... senior pass, and you are all old enough, ten bucks at any national park, and its good for the rest of your life... free entrance to all National Parks in the entire United States of America!

Bright... rain... heart & rainbows.

Bright spot... wildflower garden...                                                Summer 2013
The wildflower garden is in it's top glory right now...
it's been a wet monsoon season this year...
the home garden has been roaring and still going...
just picked a hand-full of green beans this morning, as the dog nosed about in the yard...
major rain up on the plateau at dave's hollow... pasture flooded and flowing over the road... Volunteers safe and got out this morning to work at the VC... the OMG weekend got too much rain and washed out their gathering, they must be a "fair weather" MG. i remember back in my motorcycle riding days... riding in the rain was ok if you were heading home a short distance and you got "surface wet"... but if you had a long way to go and had to keep riding the tough spot was between "surface wet" and "wet to the bone"... once ya got "wet to the bone" you could not get any wetter... sooo it got easier again to ride on, for me. This was riding late 60's early 70's in southern California as a young man. Don't know i could do that today... and i am sure i don't want to try! but    "...every trial and experience you have passed through is necessary for your salvation." Brigham Young.

don't litter... turn left...                                                                      August 2013
Even the ATV folks got mostly rained out this year... ya can't take the mud home with ya so don't ride. We look forward to all the rain we can get, whenever we get it, so don't look for us to feel sorry for ya when your here and it rains!

Partly cloudy, yellow/gold sunrise
fs office, truck, fuel, grocery, canyon
Borne Upon Eagles Wings, Elder Holland 1974.

New twinkies for lunch, grasshoppers mo-better
heavy rain in canyon , wash running walltowall
home to panguitch, rainbow to the east.

Dough-nut thursday red canyon, wash normal
home to panguitch, supper, crapTV, usual ssdd
brits, good show, nosupport ustowar, sorry pres.

Putt's granary/shed...                                                                         09/01/2013
The old shed that Grandpa H. Sevy dragged onto the home property years ago... lots of "good" old used rusted memories from the past may soon be going the way of the past... grandma wanted to burn the "damn thing" down!!... didn't happen. i wanted to put a corrugated iron roof on it and save it... not going to happen!! Someone has now been given the OK too... haul away all the "junk" inside it and tear the rest down for the usable wood that it's made of... well have a good last look... cause now there will soon be another "hole" in Panguitch where Putt's shed use to be. It just won't be the same cooking tin foil dinners with an open fire on a bed of hot coals with the shed to wander through as dinner cooked... indigestion comes in many forms... no heartburn RX will help this... the passing on of a man-made scenario.

We must learn to learn from those who came before us, either before they go or by what they leave behind for us to look at and learn from.

Bloody hand prints all over a G washington bill...
drive the canyon after running wash yesterday... OK
hang out doing the front desk dance... good morning!

56 and mostly cloudy, grey on gray...
dealing with the "boys of '65"... prep sheet done...
smell the wildflowers and the new mowed lawn.

A star and leaf for the september symbol, busy coming...
dave's hollow road wash over... pasture full...
up-date on current collage education... so far... good.

All looks good from here...                                                               09/02/2013

Man can become an instrument in the Lord's hand... guided and directed... choose early... don't delay... tag your it!!
The rains of this season remind me of Guam MI, '68-'69, again my youth as a Navel enlisted man... other stories other days... The "light" on Guam in Micronesia vs. the "light" in Southern Utah in USA is much different... but the gospel in both places is the same, TRUE.
Have a story... write it to tell it bits and pieces.

This week i will transition into a new sketchbook/journal... close out the old and file away under the desk and confront a whole new book full of blank pages, no lines... it's like taking the dog outside and unhooking his leash... the freedom to go where he/you/i will...
Here's to the sojourn... and that itchy feeling of something new coming about... whatever that might be...
remember Brigham above... write-on!
